Over the past few years, I’ve done quite a bit of work on mental health awareness and campaigning. I really enjoyed talking to the media and speaking at conferences, and felt privileged to share my story. You can see some of the work and projects I’ve been involved in here.
Recently, I’ve taken a bit of a backseat from media work and public speaking and this has given me time to reflect. By sharing my story, my hope was to help people to understand mental health problems more, and to provide hope and a bit of guidance to those who were going through a difficult time at that moment. It is really important that we can openly talk about mental health and mental illness, and that people don’t feel ashamed to ask for support. It’s also important that we push for that support to be more readily available, so people don’t have to deteriorate to get the support they need.
